Over three exciting days, Motswasele II took audiences on a journey through Botswana’s rich history and cultural heritage at Maitisong Theatre.

The performances, which ran from Thursday, 19th September to Saturday, 21st September 2024, featured evening shows on Thursday and Friday and a special matinee performance on Saturday at 3 PM, ensuring that attendees of all ages could experience this unforgettable production.

Directed by an exceptional team of local creatives, Motswasele II brings to life one of Botswana’s most significant historical narratives, weaving together themes of courage, resilience and cultural pride. The play also holds educational value as part of the school syllabus, giving students a deeper understanding of this pivotal chapter in Botswana’s past.

The performances drew a diverse and enthusiastic crowd, including students, educators, theatre lovers and members of the public. Each show ended with standing ovations, with audiences moved by the cast’s powerful portrayal of a story that continues to resonate with Botswana’s people. The matinee performance, in particular, attracted a strong turnout of students and families, adding a special atmosphere to the event.

For those who couldn’t attend the earlier performances, there’s one last chance to experience this exceptional production.

The final performance of Motswasele II will be held on Friday, 4th October 2024, at Maitisong Theatre. Schools, cultural organisations and the general public are encouraged  to seize this opportunity to engage with a production that not only entertains but also educates.

Motswasele II has made a profound impression, not just for its entertainment value but for its role in preserving and celebrating Botswana’s cultural identity. The final performance promises to be as unforgettable as the previous ones.
