MultiChoice Botswana treated media and key stakeholders to an exclusive “catch-up” breakfast on the eve of the UEFA EURO 2024 kick-off. The event showcased the exciting new content coming to DStv this winter season, including UEFA EURO 2024, new Botswana content on Moja Love, and a rich array of shows on Showmax.
Reflecting on previous financial years, Multichoice Botswana’s Managing Director, Stephanie Pillay, hinted at the event that this will be an exciting year. “We remain committed to our vision of being Africa’s most loved storyteller and in 2024, we continue to dig our nails into the ground in our quest to bring more local content, more exclusive live sport, and more gripping pieces of theatrical magnificence,” said Pillay.
DSTV Botswana users are set for a sporting extravaganza this winter. On the 14th of June UEFA EURO 2024 kicks off followed by the Olympics on the 26th of July and the new football season starting on the 18th of August. Sgela a locally produced drama series will premiere on DSTV’s Moja Love (Channel 157) on the 15th of July at 1700hrs, according to a statement released by MultiChoice Botswana. The show directed by Thabiso Maratlwaneng explores dynamics between daring students, unconventional teachers, and unaware parents. The 26-episode series is expected to be both enjoyable and instructive.
MultiChoice Botswana has kept pace with content consumption trends by enhancing its main streaming offering through Showmax and DSTV Stream. The new Showmax, part of a joint streaming version with Comcast’s NBCUniversal and Sky, offers a blend of African originals and international movies and series, making it an opinion for viewers.
The Head of Corporate Affairs, Oesi Thothe, discussed MultiChoice Botswana’s ongoing efforts to combat content piracy. By collaborating with the Companies and Intellectual Property Act (CIPA) and Botswana Police Services, the company aims to protect the local creative industry and ensure legal content consumption.
