To reiterate its dedication to its Social, Economic and Environmental (SEE) strategic ambitions, Stanbic Bank recently partnered with Tokafala Enterprise Development Programme for a Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP) to drive sustainable economic growth and

community development. The partnership was cemented through a Memorandum of

Understanding signed on the 3rd of May 2024 at Stanbic Bank Accelerate Incubator.

The collaboration will provide support to youth entrepreneurs to develop and strengthen their small businesses through training, mentorship and access to funding. Over the course of a year, from 2024 to 2025, Stanbic Bank will allocate P 1 million  in grants as part of this collaborative effort.

Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme, Kushatha Chilisa stated that the bank’s newly established CEEP division seeks to advance their youth employability and entrepreneurship mandate.

“We are excited to partner with the Tokafala Enterprise Development Program in this first of its kind funding partnership, to tangibly bring this ambition to life. By combining our expertise, resources, and networks, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for youth empowerment and growth, ultimately contributing to a more prosperous future for our country.”

Tokafala Enterprise Development Programme focuses on fostering the growth of small and

growing businesses in Botswana by helping them to overcome the challenges faced by many

entrepreneurs in the country.

The Programme has to date provided advisory services and mentorship to more than 215 Small and Medium Enterprises, helping entrepreneurs develop the business, financial management and marketing skills they need to build successful and sustainable businesses.

For her part, Tokafala’s Programme Director, Ms. Montle Phuthego shared that the partnership will enable them to ensure continuity of their programmes which are aimed at serving underserved youth and entrepreneurs to help combat unemployment and support the scaling of small to medium enterprises through coaching, mentoring, access to markets and funding.

“This partnership will enable us to ensure continuity. Seeing to it that there is measurable progress. Together, we can build a brighter future for Botswana.
