This year, the Bank has sponsored Spark Ideas for the Activations of the 2021 Global Entrepreneurship Month Activations and 5th Anniversary of the Creative Cup Botswana with an amount of P40,000.00.

Spark Ideas Group is a national partner for the Creative Business Cup Botswana. It will be running a series of activations around the 2021 Global Entrepreneurship Month, with the aim of rekindling the spirit of entrepreneurship within the SADC region and the African continent. The 30 days Activations ended on 30th of November 2021.

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Accelerate, Larona Makgoeng, “This is a step forward for Accelerate. It will further cement our commitment to strengthen mutual and beneficial relationships with youth entrepreneurs and position the Bank as a trusted partner that is dedicated to the development and growth of Small, Medium Enterprises (SMEs).  This sponsorship is in line with Accelerate wider Social, Economic and Environment (SEE) agenda and through it we are able to deliver on our Purpose, Botswana is our home; we drive her growth. As such this is how we leverage business capabilities of youth entrepreneurs, thus, building deeper, better and more enduring relationships with youth.”

The Bank continues to prioritise youth entrepreneurship programmes that advance young people, amplifies their voices, increase their decision-making powers, and raise awareness youth employability; and that empowers youth to educate and inspire their peers to act.

Said Spark Ideas Group Disruptor and Captain of Creativity, Ms. Nicolette Chinomona, “This was an action-packed November. We were ready to take on the Global Entrepreneurship month and we are happy to have received a sponsorship from Stanbic Bank Botswana. Through a series of activations, we had workshops and activities lined up for the youth to learn how to turn their ideas into launching a business. Many countries are participating in these activations and to name a few we had participants from Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Lesotho and South Africa. This helped to create an entrepreneurial mindset and connect participants’ passion with defining a problem, finding solutions, and developing a pitch for their business solutions.”

Stanbic Bank continues to solidify its customer centricity strategy by leveraging and sponsoring youth entrepreneurs as a way to build the bank for tomorrow. “Through the 30 days of activation and experience, the youth had to exchange ideas, entrepreneurship skills, and best practices with fellow participants during formal and informal sessions as they enhance, educate & empower one another,” said Makgoeng.
