Government in talks with J&J and Pfizer manufacturers for delivery

The government of Botswana has reportedly made a breakthrough in sourcing COVID-19 vaccines to cover its nationwide vaccination program, The Business Weekly & Review has established.

Sources have told this publication that Botswana is expecting 200 000 doses from China, 1.2 million doses from Johnson & Johnson and a further 20 000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine.

According to sources, only the doses from Pfizer are from the COVAX facility whilst the other two were directly sourced from manufactures.

The Business Weekly & Review understands that the Chinese consignment might arrive this week.

On the other hand, government is in talks with the Johnson & Johnson manufacture for delivery logistics arrangements.

According to reliable sources, confirmation has been sent to Botswana relating to the J &J and PfIzer doses.

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Edwin Dikoloti and his Permanent Secretary Kabelo Ebineng did not responded to this publication’s enquiry when contacted.
