Citizen owned company, Estate Construction has recommitted itself to empower graduates in engineering and Occupational Health as well as Safety Officers graduates.

Amidst the COVID -19 pandemic and its impact on economy, the company continued with their graduate empowerment program which attracts, identifies and selects young people with high potential and ambition to embrace new challenges, offering a set of work opportunities in various areas within the construction sector.

Contracts Manager at Estate Construction Maynard Kandaya said the graduates program gives the young people an opportunity to acquire work experience which will enable them to penetrate the fields they want to work for.

Kandaya said they decided to go ahead with the program amid the COVID-19 pandemic which has crippled most companies as it will provide the young graduates a platform to fulfil their desires which are rather not provided in their trainings.

Furthermore, he said during the first year, the graduates will be taught the art of service and industry regulations.

During the second year, Kandaya indicated the graduates will be trained on team work and working on areas of specialty whilst in the 3rd year, the graduates will be trained on management and supervision.

“The graduates will be able to learn about life skills and budgeting and will be given a substantial living allowance as well as housing allowance,” he disclosed.

The company indicated that 494 applied for Occupational Health and Safety post while 195 applied for civil engineering one.

Estate Construction started the Graduate Program a few years as a way of nurturing young talents, assisting them to start their careers, promoting their alignment with the company’s culture and values as well as  offering them the opportunity to develop a career in one of the leading citizen owned company in the construction industry.
