The partnership creates an opportunity for Unayo users to make use of Cash-In and Cash-Out services at kiosks located at TRANS Cash & Carry stores. Cash-In transactions allow registered Unayo users to deposit funds into their accounts.  The Cash-Out service allows registered Unayo users to withdraw funds from their accounts. Non-registered voucher recipients can also redeem the Unayo vouchers at the Unayo kiosk.

The partnership with TRANS Cash & Carry will be rolled out in phases, the first phase covering four Trans Africa stores in Greater Gaborone. These include:

      • Trans Hyper Mogoditshane
      • Trans Hyper Tlokweng
      • Jumbo Industrial
      • Trans Industrial

The transactions will be facilitated by TRANS Cash & Carry cashiers located at branded kiosks within the TRANS Cash & Carry stores. In due course, the scope of services will be expanded to include payment for goods as well as the purchase of Value Added Services such as airtime and prepaid electricity. Furthermore, other TRANS Cash & Carry stores will also be enabled to offer Unayo services.

Said Stanbic Bank Botswana Head of Corporate and Investment Banking Sheperd Aisam, “As Stanbic Bank, we firmly believe in forming partnerships dedicated to the growth and prosperity of our customers through innovative solutions. The uptake of Unayo thus far has shown that this game-changing solution truly wields sound impact as a convenient, inclusive and widely accessible platform for consumers on the go. And so, we continue to invest in enhancing its functionality and convenience through strategic partnerships such as this, with TRANS Cash & Carry as a proudly Botswana household business. This allows us to truly increase our reach, access and impact.”

“As TRANS Cash and Carry we are excited for our customers since this product will breach a gap between our unbanked and banked customers since we serve customers from all walks of life. Unayo came at the right time especially now since our store is growing and we are looking into ways we can our customer’s individual needs and serve them accordingly,” said Makgabana Tsametsi, TRANS Cash & Carry Marketing Manager.
