Hollard Insure has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Association of Small, Medium and Micro Business Enterprise of Botswana (ASMMEB) for the provision of insurance solutions for the organisation.

Launched in May 2022, ASMMEB was created in order to foster growth and development for the local small to medium enterprise sector. As a non-profit organisation, their mandate is to help diversify the economy, consistently advocating for the establishment of appropriate legislation, policies, and regulatory frameworks that benefit SMMEs while also advocating for the strengthening of supportive institutions for the promotion of SMME activities.

The partnership will run for three years, ensuring that members of the non-profit continue to benefit from Hollard’s insurance offerings.

A representative from the Association said that one of its goals is to change the negative narrative surrounding local SMMEs, by sharing experiences and providing mentoring for fledgling SMMEs. “This growth cannot happen in isolation, but requires the support and cooperation of institutions such as Hollard to ensure that Batswana are successful in their journeys towards entrepreneurship.  Hollard Botswana’s three-year MOU represents such an opportunity. We look forward to the growth of this partnership and the provision of risk management for SMMEs across Botswana.”

Speaking to the collaboration, Hollard Insure Managing Director, Gavin J. Classen said that Hollard has always been dedicated to supporting the growth and advancement of local SMMEs, recognising that they are a vital cornerstone in the country’s socioeconomic development and expansion.

“Our partnership with ASMMEB therefore tied together in our mutual value for promoting, encouraging and fostering entrepreneurship. Organisations of all sizes need insurance to protect them against risk and ensure that they are able to keep going in times of turmoil. We are honoured to be able to support small businesses in this way, as this has been a fundamental component in our CSR strategy for a number of years now,” he said.
