The official launch for the model was held on 28 October when the candidate from the Diamond Pageantry Alumni, who did exceptionally well and was selected by the mentors and the pageantry school as the best candidate, was announced.
The CEO of Supermodel International, Lisa Gaelebale, explained: “She is currently training for the international pageant with Diamond Pageantry Academy. We aim to grow her as both a model and beauty queen, not just locally but internationally as we see her flying our flag across the world.”
Supermodel International is also a newly acquired international pageant for models that will start running after the first Botswana representative is sent to Thailand early next year. Auditions for the Supermodel International Botswana 2022 will be announced at the launch. “The model pageant aims to grow both the pageantry and modelling industries as the pageant combines the two,” Gaelebale said.
“The winner will be trained to meet international standards before being sent to the international space. Models participating in the Supermodel International competition can look forward to being introduced to a mix of modelling and pageantry. They will get training in both and will learn the difference between the two and how to merge them. We aim to have seminars for the girls to learn different life skills.”
The company takes note of several factors when choosing the best model. “The most important characteristics we look for in our models are confidence, resilience and dedication to the cause,” the CEO explained. “Such a young lady should be passionate about modelling and about our country capable of bringing home the international crown.
Held under the theme, ‘Expanding International Cultural and Fashion Development and meeting Worldwide Decade-based on the Beauty Resources across the World’, the event also aims to develop and contribute to society and drive presentation of the beauty and talents of some of the most spectacular ladies in the world to a worldwide audience.
The international competition is conducted every year with 50 executive members from all around the world.
