Business Botswana’s National Business Conference is returning for its seventeenth instalment under the theme Invigorating Economic Transformation Through the Private Sector. The four-day conference will provide a platform for interactive dialogue, views exchange, and policy review on the country’s economic transformation agenda, with a special focus on boosting the economy through private sector development.
Scheduled for the 25th -28th August 2024 in Francistown, the event will feature President Mokgweetsi Masisi as the Keynote Speaker, joined by over 500 local and international leaders from the private sector, senior government officials, development partners, and civil societies to deliberate and discuss transformative ways to accelerate a private sector-led economy.
During a recent media engagement, Business Botswana Director- Policy Advocacy Mpaphi Tsholofelo unpacked this year’s theme which recognizes that economic growth prospects lie in the private sector at the forefront, with the government facilitating the transformation. Mphapi emphasised the need for practical resolutions to drive economic transformation, further stating the importance of a multi-sectoral platform and private sector involvement.
“The private sector owns the solutions to some of the challenges that the state might face; among these is the capacity to raise capital, and issues around skills development. The objective of this event is to explore practical yet innovative ways to achieve a private sector economy, thereby accelerating Botswana’s transformation towards high income status.”
Registration for the conference, which promises thought-provoking discussions and actionable insights, is currently ongoing.
