Mogoditshane now the biggest village – research

As a firm specializing in market research and data analysis through surveys, feasibility studies, polls, among others, we hope to bring valuable insights through today’s article as we focus on the new statistic which places Mogoditshane as the country’s biggest village.

This was revealed in a recent report by the national researcher, Statistics Botswana in a report titled ‘2022 Population and Housing Census Preliminary Results V2.’ The said report states that, ‘The preliminary results show that a total of 61 villages have a population size of 5, 000 or more in 2022 when compared to 46 villages in 2011 and 27 villages in 2001. The results further show that Mogoditshane is now the largest village in Botswana with an estimated population of 88, 098 followed by Maun (85, 293), Molepolole (74, 719), Tlokweng (55, 517) and Serowe (55, 484).’

Of course, those in business automatically see the need of having such data as it influences decision-making. Keep on reading and we will shortly prove to you that businesses need data to make key strategic or operational decisions. From that analogy, you will also be able to discern without our compulsion that you need research in your business if you are to make decisions such as expansion, new product launch and customer satisfaction, among many others.

Why is this key?

Well, this statistic simply shows that a business which sets up in Mogoditshane is likely to have good numbers of customers who walk in to buy goods or services. Those in the Fast Moving Goods sector will tell you that location of a business is key, especially if that place has a large population.

Secondly, the fact that Mogoditshane is now the biggest village means that those in residential property developments are likely to have their properties highly demanded in that village, of course due to its size. On the other hand, that statistic may negate expansions outside the Gaborone area as Mogoditshane is a now a key area to consider expanding your business into. If you were thinking of expanding your business to Maun for example, you need to consider Mogoditshane as it is in fact bigger than Maun.

Research is key

Whilst we have made it clear that Mogoditshane is now a key place to consider for investments, you may also need deeper research into dynamics such as the purchasing power of its residents, the employed population and safety aspects which may influence your decisions. Further, there are some businesses whose demand is not directly correlated to the population size of a particular area such as those in the capital market. This therefore requires bespoke market research before critical investment or other business decisions are taken.

It’s all about research

If you were asking why a research firm like us is interested in the village population data, here is why this is key to what we do. Firstly, we are called Data Collection and Analysis, which means that we must be the source for pertinent data in the country. Secondly, we must state that the numbers provided by Statistics Botswana come from research work. Lastly, we need these statistics to assist future clients who may need to know the potential demand patterns in the country. Ok now, that goes to show that research fits squarely into this whole analogy.

Conclusion

We hope that this article was insightful and that it demonstrated to some extent the importance of market research or data in business decision-making. As stated above, we offer market research and data analysis through surveys, feasibility studies, polls, among other data-related services.
