Absa Bank Botswana has announced the launch of Agency Banking, which is essentially an extension of their network across the country with an aim to also drive financial inclusion.
Agency Banking will be driven by local businesses where registered SMEs will be able to offer Absa selected services including those offered by Spark by Absa, the newly launched innovative digital wallet solution by the bank.
Agency Banking services are part of the bank’s strategic goal of being digitally driven as well as their commitment to enhancing its current digital ecosystem to align it to new, convenient, simple and modern way of servicing customers. Furthermore, Agency Banking will improve customers’ ability to transact with ease and mostly within their locality.
“Agency Banking will strategically drive our commitment to service our customers across the country without having the need to visit branches or ATMs to perform basic transactions like withdrawing or depositing money into their digital wallets. Additionally, non-Absa customers will be able to access some of the services offered by Spark by Absa digital wallet from the agents’ said Valeta Mthimkhulu, Retail Director at Absa Bank Botswana.
Currently, agency banking offers the following: withdrawal and depositing of money from Spark by Absa digital wallet. To date, Agency Banking has live agents in the following areas, where financial services outlets are non-existent in a brick-and-mortar format.
