Leading retail group Sefalana has announced a pause in its expansion plans across Botswana, Namibia, and Lesotho due to slow economic growth that has reduced consumer spending.
The group operates 139 stores across the four countries, including Australia, and employs 8,555 people, with 6,800 based in Botswana. Sefalana’s Managing Director, Chandra Chauhan, said the company has relied on a diversified portfolio to offset the impact of weaker consumer demand.
