Internationally acclaimed DJ and Uthando hitmaker, DJ Ngwazi, is steadily expanding his footprint in Botswanaโs entertainment industry. This Independence holiday, he brings the second edition of Kumnandi Ekhaya Music Festival to Flamboyant Gardens in Thamaga, building on the success of the inaugural event and demonstrating his growing role as an event organiser.
The festival will feature a powerhouse lineup, from South Africaโs Master KG, DJ Tira, Kabza De Small, and Doctor Malinga to Botswanaโs top artists Vee Mampeezy, Han C, Charmagal, Scavenger and so many more.
Reflecting on his journey into event organising, DJ Ngwazi said his decision is shaped by both passion and vision. โMy move into events management is driven by the love of the craft and the desire to see Botswanaโs entertainment industry grow. After the success of the first edition, it was clear that this platform could be bigger, better, and more impactful,โ he explained.
For Ngwazi, Kumnandi Ekhaya is more than just a show, it is a personal mission. Thamaga, once infamous for gangs, was often written off as a dangerous village. He now wants the festival to highlight the villageโs talent and potential.
โThamaga is where I first learned to dream. It gave me my wings as a DJ, and now I want the world to see it for its talent and potential, not for the gangs or crime it was once known for. If this festival can inspire even one young person to believe in their dreams, then Iโve done my part,โ he said.
For this second edition, Ngwazi says he has expanded the eventโs planning and logistics, putting in place structured stage management, strengthened security measures, and organised transport for attendees. He assured that these improvements are designed to ensure the festival runs smoothly for both artists and fans, reflecting his growing professionalism as an event organiser.
Ngwazi also emphasises that the festival is more than just entertainment. As he points out, bringing international talent to a village like Thamaga shows the potential of Botswanaโs creative economy, demonstrating that with vision, planning, and discipline, entertainment can inspire communities, foster growth, and shape cultural identity.
