BoMRA Announces Executive Leadership appointments

The Board and Management at Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority (BoMRA) announced the appointment of Shirley Amogelang Pine, as the Director, Human Resource & Organizational Development and Bathusi Kgosietsile as the Director, Product Evaluation and Registration.

Kgosietsile is a transformational leader whose experience spans over 16 years in the Healthcare Industry. His professional experience cuts across sectors of medicines regulation, pharmaceutical marketing and distribution, medical health financing, pharmaceutical benefit management, drug manufacturing and clinical pharmacy. He is a former President and Secretary of the Pharmaceutical Society of Botswana (PSB), as well as former Member of the Manufacturing Committee of Human Resource Development Council (HRDC).

Prior to joining BoMRA, Kgosietsile worked at Sir Ketumile Masire Teaching Hospital as a COVID-19 Project Pharmacist. He has also worked as a Managing Director at Portfolio Pharmaceuticals, a Pharmacy Manager at MRI (Botswana Medical Aid subsidiary), a Regulatory Pharmacist at Medswana Pty (Ltd) and at the Drug Regulatory Unit of the Ministry of Health. He has done some consultancy work in other different Pharmaceutical Businesses.

Besides his solid technical competence, he brings to BoMRA wealth of experience, in the pharmaceutical Regulatory industry. His current scope of work includes, registration of human and veterinary medical products, medical devices, cosmetics and complimentary medicines to ensure that they are safe, efficacious and of good quality. Bathusi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from North West University, South Africa.

Pine is a seasoned HR professional and value creator with corporate experience boasting an impressive 20-years in all facets of HR. She has worked across diverse industries such as Banking, Transport & Communications, and Telecommunications.

Pine joins BoMRA from Mascom Wireless where she worked as Manager HR Business Partner, largely exposed to Organizational Design and Effectiveness, Leadership Coaching, Change Management, Rewards and Benefits Management and Executive Sourcing. Her project management expertise has helped her to effectively manage different HR transformation projects.

Prior to joining Mascom Wireless, Shirley worked for Standard Chartered Bank Botswana as an HR Services Manager and Senior HR Business Partner-Retail Banking respectively. She has also worked for Botswana Couriers & Logistics as an HR Manager and spent most of her early career years at Barclays Bank, now ABSA Bank, as an HR Business Partner for Retail Banking.

Pine’s expertise and deep passion are on Organisational Development and Effectiveness, Employee Engagement, Leadership Development, Nurturing of Talent, Rewards and Benefits advisory, and Culture harmonization Shirley holds a Bachelor of Social Science – Public Administration and Political Science from the University of Botswana and has completed Barclays Africa ILead, an Executive Leadership Program with Duke Corporate Education.
