It is not all gloom and doom at Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) because while its resource optimisation exercise resulted in retrenchment of 196 employees, the telco absorbed 62 graduates who had been in temporary employment on a permanent basis, the parastatal says in a statement to its shareholders.
According to the BTC Board, the primary purpose of the resource optimisation exercise was to create a fit-for-purpose organisation that supports the repositioning of its post-structural separation and listing.
