Emeritus International Reinsurance has extended a helping hand to ten families in Molepolole who were severely affected by recent floods. The company made a BWP100,000.00 donation during a handover ceremony held at St Paul Kgotla, affirming its commitment to standing with communities during times of need.

Representing Emeritus International was Board Director Rre Modise Modise, who eloquently reaffirmed the company’s guiding values of empathy, Botho, and collective upliftment. “At Emeritus, we believe in the power of community and the responsibility to act with empathy,” he shared. “This is more than a donation—it is a reminder that when we work together, we create resilience that no storm can wash away.”

“This initiative is only the beginning. This is our first donation to the affected families in Molepolole, but certainly not the last,” he said. “We are here today, not just in response to the floods, but as a long-term partner in rebuilding lives and restoring dignity.”

The ceremony was graced by Kgosi Montisetsi Lebang, who expressed deep appreciation for Emeritus’ timely intervention. “Giving and sharing are not only about material things—they are about the essence of our humanity,” he said. “I urge other companies to emulate this spirit and step forward in support of our people.” Kgosi Lebang also made a heartfelt plea to the beneficiaries: “Let us take care of what we are given with both hands. May these resources bring stability and hope.”

Also joining the occasion was Chief Executive Officer of Emeritus International, Mrs. Patience Marwiro, who underscored the importance of community. “We are here today, not just in response to the floods, but as long-term partners in rebuilding lives and restoring dignity. When disaster strikes, the world is in shock first, but it moves on quickly. Unfortunately, the families left behind may continue to suffer in silence. The message is that we remember and respond – even after the world has moved on.”

Councillor John Ninky Mmadintsi, also in attendance, praised Emeritus for its proactive approach and stressed the importance of partnerships between corporates and communities in addressing social crises.

The event served as a profound reminder of the role that corporate Botswana can play in supporting communities not just through policies, but through action. By anchoring its purpose in values of compassion and unity, Emeritus has reaffirmed its place as a responsible insurer—and most importantly, a responsive neighbour.
