Botswana’s horticulture sector has expanded rapidly, reaching a production peak of nearly 89,000 tonnes and meeting 80 percent of national vegetable demand and almost one-third of fruit demand. Yet the boom is not translating into economic gains for commercial farmers, particularly in the Tuli Block, where producers say much of their harvest is piling up unsold due to systemic market failures.
