Letshego Africa Holdings Limited recently hosted a graduation ceremony to honor the completion of its LetsGo Digital Mastery and Leadership Development programmes. The event, held in Gaborone, celebrated the achievements of participants who have successfully completed the company’s innovative training initiatives.
The programmes, designed to enhance digital skills and leadership capabilities, reflect Letshego’s commitment to empowering its workforce and fostering professional growth.
Close to 200 executives finished varying degrees of the company’s tiered growth programs were recognised, along with 11 Digital Mastery Associates. Letshego’s 6-2-5 Digital Transformation Strategy includes several efforts, which are meant to develop transformational leadership and improve digital skills among its employees.
Aupa Monyatsi, Letshego’s Group Chief Executive said this investment not only enhanced customer and employee experience but also empowered employees to significantly contribute to the Group’s success. “Our leadership development programmes stemmed from our learning and development framework, ensuring our initiatives supported career advancement and built the skills necessary for our Transformation Strategy,” said Monyatsi adding that it “ensured Letshego Africa remained at the forefront of digital change, positioning us for long-term benefits.”
Letshego noted the Leadership Development programmes, a core component of Letshego’s 6-2-5 Digital Transformation Strategy, are orientated to produce innovative and transformational leadership within the institution. These initiatives target overall organisational benefits, improved customer experience, shorter time to market, higher quality solutions, and data-driven insights. The programme has a tiered structure: the Leadership Development Programme for Managers, the Senior Leadership Programme for Senior Managers and the Executive Leadership Programme.
“Practical, on-the-job learning was a cornerstone of our initiative, providing young talent with invaluable experience,” Kamogelo Chiusiwa, Letshego Africa’s Group Chief People & Culture Officer said. “Our Digital Associates gained first-hand insights from international operations and benefited from strategic external partnerships within Letshego’s 11-country Africa footprint.” pointed out.”
Created in partnership with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) and McKinsey Black Academy, these 6-18 months programmes focused on developing a common experience in leadership and culture. They equipped the leaders with critical skills such as concise communication, the ability to manage innovation with flexibility, alongside outstanding technological decision-making skills as well as the capacity to attract, lead and retain talented individuals.
The LetsGo Digital Mastery Programme was launched as part of Letshego’s #PeopleFirstAgenda and it is committed to upskilling the youth with digital and tech skills in the regional markets. More than 1200 applicants engaged in a four-stage interview to earn one of the 14 slots in 2022, as part of an illustrious class of young people. This 18-month programme provided a series of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for trainees to improve their skills and regional knowledge, greatly increasing their future employment prospects.
The Digital Mastery Programme provided Graduates with interactive and hands-on experience with different subsidiaries and divisions of the Letshego Group. The programme also motivated them to increase Letshego’s product and entrepreneurship ecosystems through in-house training and Agile workshops. Enriched the learning experience through partnerships with prestigious international partners like Fast Forward Innovation and McKinsey’s Black Academy. To help external applicants, the programme covered living costs which helped them to devote their time to learning.
