      The Mascom 3-for-3 campaign is a movement that encourages Mascom Employees to devote 3 hours of their time, on the 12th of June, to causes and initiatives that serve their community.

      The intention is for Mascom employees to volunteer in initiatives of their choice, to give back to, and have a positive impact on their communities. The naming of this initiative pays homage to the three Chiefs, namely Khama III of the Bangwato, Sebele I of the Bakwena, and Bathoen I of the Bangwaketse; who, through their visionary leadership, helped to secure Botswana’s future. Mascom says it is guided by three pillars; Gratitude, Service, Community and Movement, with an aim to inspire the citizenry of the country to dedicate some time and efforts to create a lasting impact on society.

      Commenting on the initiative, Mascom CEO, Dzene Makhwade-Seboni explains, “Now more than ever, the need for us to exist beyond ourselves is more prevalent and necessary, as we grapple with the effects of the COVID pandemic on our societies. Mascom saw it fit to establish an initiative championed by its staff across the nation, to help and do their part in trying to fill gaps that exist in society. We envision June 12th to be a day rooted in service to one’s community, and be an annual nation building initiative.”

      For her part, Mascom Chief Communications and PR Officer, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego outlined the mechanics of the initiative, “Staff were called on some months ago to group themselves together, and find initiatives to throw their efforts behind as a collective. We were asked to put together proposals outlining the focus of our efforts to be supported by Mascom. We envision the impact of the 3 for 3 project to be such that Mascom will inspire Batswana and her citizens to dedicate some time and efforts towards community building. We want to use our honouring of the 3 Chiefs and Bogosi, to inspire community building behaviour and create a movement that will grow on a national scale and become a showcase, forming inspiration for even global audiences.”

      As a responsible and responsive leading digital service provider, Mascom says it fully appreciates the role and responsibility the company has towards its various stakeholders and the environment.

      The company’s 3-FOR-3 CSR endeavours are focussed on the following pillars;

      1. Provision of Information Communications Technology (ICT) Resources and Equipment
      2. Vulnerable & Disadvantaged Groups, Especially Children
      3. Sporting Groups
      4. Environmental NGOs
      5. Cultural & Traditional Groups
      6. Mascom Mobile Health (M-Health)
