The Moshupa to Manyana road construction which officially began last week, is expected to play a pivotal role in improving access to essential services such as healthcare and education for local residents, further fostering sustainable economic development by enhancing regional connectivity.
Spanning 33.5 kilometres between Moshupa and Manyana, with an additional 0.25km access road to the Manyana Kgotla, the project includes key components such as two bridges, culverts, side drains, bus stops, and road signage.
The road is expected to play a pivotal role in the regional economy by improving the movement of goods, services and people.
By reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity between communities in the Southern District and key markets, the road will bolster supply chains, support local businesses and attract new investments into the region.
In his address during the groundbreaking ceremony, President Mokgweetsi Masisi emphasised the broader impact of the project, stating, “As Botswana continues to grow into a high-income economy, infrastructure projects like these ensure that we have the foundations necessary for sustained growth.”
Beyond improved mobility and accessibility, the construction phase which is set for completion in 24 months, is expected to create jobs, directly contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of the surrounding areas.
