Stanbic Bank Botswana confirmed a trio of key strategic appointments to the Country Leadership Committee (CLC) and executive cadre, further fortifying the Bank’s depth of expertise. Masaitseweng Binns assumes the role of Head of Strategy Enablement, while Boitumelo Banabotlhe joins as Head of Internal Audit and Thomas Mpedi takes on the role of Head of Operations.
The appointments come at a crucial juncture as Stanbic Bank Botswana continues to intensify efforts to deliver on its growth proposition to clients, communities and country, as ensconced in the Bank’s Purpose: Botswana is our home; we drive her growth. This is on the back of recent investments in enhanced infrastructure and systems, a bevy of nuanced products and solutions, and significant digitisation and skills development across the staffing body.
“We are pleased to welcome Masaitseweng, Boitumelo and Thomas to the Bank, having been very particular about finding the right candidates for these strategic positions. We are confident we have found individuals who are not only uniquely qualified and experienced to deliver on their respective mandates, but also who wholly align with the values and beliefs system of the Bank, and of the overarching proposition to drive impact that we hold dear. Ultimately, we know this will cascade into even stronger experiences for our clients as we enhance our value creation efforts,” said Chose Modise, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Botswana.
The appointments of Masaitseweng, Boitumelo and Thomas come as part of a deliberate move to reshape the face of the Bank, aligning with Stanbic Bank Botswana’s vision to create value for clients and the communities its serves by providing access to digital financial and related solutions that support sustainable growth.
Masaitseweng has 17 years of Senior Strategy Management experience spread across multiple markets, including Botswana, Zambia, and Malawi. Most recently, as the Group Strategy Manager for the BIHL Group, she led growth optimisation through overseeing end-to-end strategic management, having played a key role in shaping strategic initiatives for comprehensive corporate strategies on growth and profitability. She has also held strategic roles at Botswana Life, and holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic Management (University of Derby); and has undertaken the Management Development Programme from the Institute of Insurance South Africa, amongst others. As Head of Strategy Enablement, Masaitseweng will play a pivotal role in driving the Bank’s strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with market dynamics and customer needs, all underpinned by the Bank’s Social, Economic and Environmental (SEE) agenda.
Boitumelo will, as Head of Internal Audit, be responsible for leading the audit process in line with the Group Internal Audit (GIA) strategy, ensuring effectiveness and compliance with internal audit systems and procedures. Boitumelo previously served, as part of his 18-year long career, as the Chief Audit Executive of Botswana Development Corporation (BDC). Boitumelo holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree from the University of Botswana and is a graduate of the University of Stellenbosch Business School Executive Leadership Development Programme. He is a Fellow Member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
Thomas joins Stanbic Bank from Unitrans, where he served as a Managing Director. He has functional experience in diverse industries – including FMCG and logistics – and different markets in various senior leadership roles and with cumulative work experience of over 23 years.
As Head of Operations, Thomas will lead and manage Operations service execution teams, creating an environment that empowers people to achieve defined targets and quality standards within prescribed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Thomas graduated from the University of Botswana with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management and holds various other professional development certifications, including but not limited to those in Risk Management, Business Continuity and Competition Law.
As Stanbic Bank bolsters its leadership team with these seasoned professionals, the Bank reaffirms its commitment to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional client experiences. Stanbic Bank Botswana said it remains well-positioned to drive sustainable growth and deliver exceptional value to customers.
