Western Insurance Botswana has appointed Tshepo Lemo to the Board of Directors as an Independent Non-Executive Director. The company says Lemo’s appointment solidifies its governance strength and its ‘Botswana-first’ local commitment.
Chief Executive Officer of Western Insurance Botswana, Victor Nnoi, says Lemo’s expertise in the financial services industry, investment matters, increasing client returns, strengthening portfolios and managing compliance issues, coupled with his deep knowledge of the Botswana market financial services industry, will stand them in good stead as they progress towards the ambition of being a leading short term insurance services provider in Botswana. “As a business that holds the need for sound, effective and diverse governance protocols, the addition of Tshepo is an important one in further cementing a strong and diverse Board.”
Lemo is an investment professional with extensive experience in managing diversified portfolios. He has previously lent his professional experience to such entities as Motor Vehicle Accident Fund (MVAF), Stanlib Investment Management Services, and Fleming Asset Management. He is currently an investment consultant and Board director for Maiteko Enterprises.
“I am honoured to be joining the Board of Western Insurance Botswana at such a challenging and exciting time. The local economy has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and consumers are more vulnerable than ever before; they have less discretionary spend and therefore need to be protected with more cost-effective insurance products. This is indeed an opportune time to work with the Western Insurance Botswana Board and Management team to provide client-centric solutions to service the insurance sector in the most relevant and value-adding way. I look forward to contributing my knowledge and experience to the benefit of Western Insurance Botswana and its customers,” said Lemo.
