Afreximbank has announced a line-up of speakers for its 2026 Compliance Forum, which will bring together bankers, regulators, compliance specialists and fintech leaders from more than 40 countries in Gaborone from November 16 to 18.
The forum, organised in partnership with the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), will be held at the Gaborone International Convention Centre under the theme “Better Compliance – Better Trade”. Discussions will focus on regulatory cooperation, correspondent banking access and the use of technology to reduce barriers to cross-border trade.
Among the confirmed speakers are Bank of Botswana Governor Lesego Caster Moseki, Botswana Investment and Trade Centre Chief Executive Officer Keletsositse Olebile, NBFIRA representative Mooketsi Ramanteba and African Union Commission representative Dr Patrick Ndzana Olomo. Other speakers include fintech and financial services executives from Wave Mobile Money Group, CBZ Holdings, NMB Bank and Continental Reinsurance.
BITC chief executive Olebile said predictable compliance systems were important in building investor confidence, protecting financial institutions and creating an environment conducive to trade and enterprise. Afreximbank Compliance Director Idrissa Diop said African markets needed greater regulatory interoperability to reduce trade friction while preserving national regulatory sovereignty.
The programme will cover anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions, cybersecurity, consumer protection and artificial intelligence in compliance. Delegates will also explore how risk-based onboarding and fintech solutions can expand access to financial services, alongside demonstrations of AI-enabled compliance systems.
