Barloworld, the long-standing distributor of Caterpillar equipment in Africa, is set for a major ownership shift after a R23.3 billion takeover bid by a consortium anchored by Saudi Arabia’s Zahid Group and local partners. The deal will result in Barloworld’s delisting from the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), ending its 80-year run on the bourse.
