Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) says it has recorded the highest turnover in a single day of trading during 2023 at P235.7 million today.

This single turnover in trading joins a series of significant trade milestones by the BSE in recent years including P494.3 million that was recorded in 2016, P484.6 million in 2017, P458.6 million in 2018, P149.8 million in 2019, P1.1 billion in 2021 which stands as the highest turnover ever recorded in a single day of trading since the inception of the BSE and P142.8mil in 2022.

Commenting on this milestone, the BSE CEO, Thapelo Tsheole said, “We are thrilled to announce and celebrate this remarkable milestone – achieving the highest turnover in a single day of trading in 2023. This achievement stands as a testament to the vibrancy and resilience of our capital market, as well as the unwavering confidence of our investors. The significant surge in trading activity reflects both local and international interest in Botswana’s burgeoning economy and local capital markets. Our commitment to fostering an environment of transparency, efficiency, and innovation has undoubtedly contributed to this historic feat. I extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated team, market and participants for their collective efforts in making this accomplishment possible.
