Debswana Diamond Company, a 50–50 joint venture between the Botswana government and De Beers Group, spent P13 billion on procurement in 2025, with P4 billion, or 33 percent, going to citizen-owned businesses, Minerals and Energy Minister Bogolo Joy Kenewendo has revealed.
Kenewendo disclosed the procurement figures while presenting the Committee of Supply speech on the development and recurrent budget proposals for her ministry in Parliament. She said Debswana continues to play an integral role in the development of Botswana’s economy.
