FBC HOLDINGS TIGHTENS DATA SECURITY WITH ISO CERTIFICATION

FBC Holdings has secured ISO/IEC 27001 certification, strengthening the financial services group’s systems for protecting customer information and managing cyber and information security risks.

The internationally recognised certification follows months of preparation, risk assessments, internal work and independent audits across the Group. It comes after FBC Bank became the first bank in Zimbabwe to achieve ISO/IEC 27001 certification.

The ISO/IEC 27001 standard provides a framework for organisations to identify and manage information security risks and put controls in place to protect sensitive information. For a financial services group handling customer data, transactions and other confidential records, the certification provides an added layer of assurance around how information is managed and protected.

FBC Holdings Group Chief Executive Trynos Kufazvinei said the achievement was a major milestone in protecting information entrusted to the Group by customers, employees, shareholders and other stakeholders.

“In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, information security is not merely a technical requirement; it is a strategic imperative,” Kufazvinei said.

He added that the certification showed that internationally recognised security practices had been embedded into the Group’s operations.

The certification is also expected to strengthen FBC Holdings’ compliance and risk management framework as financial institutions face growing cyber threats and increasingly complex regulatory requirements.

According to the Group, the certification will support its ability to respond to emerging security threats and maintain secure operations across its businesses.

Kufazvinei said the certification was not the end of the process, but an important milestone in the Group’s continuous efforts to improve its security systems and resilience.

FBC Holdings provides banking, mortgage finance, insurance, investment and advisory services and is listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange.
