HATAB PARTNERS WITH MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT AND TOURISM AT THE ANNUAL CINFERENCE

The 2026 Hospitality and Tourism Association of Botswana (HATAB) Annual Conference, which will be held in Maun on the 23rd of April, serves as a powerful testament to the deepening synergy between the private sector and the Ministry of Environment and Tourism (MET).

The event will highlight a unified front dedicated to evolving Botswana’s tourism model.

A key highlight will be the joint unveiling of the National Tourism Digitalization Roadmap. Previously, Minister Wynter Mmolotsi and HATAB leadership emphasised that this partnership is no longer just about policy consultation, but active co-creation.

The Ministry’s recent launch of the real-time Tourism Statistics Dashboard was praised by HATAB members as a vital tool that allows local operators to align their marketing strategies with national growth targets.

Furthermore, the conference will solidify a commitment to “City Tourism.” By working together, the MET and HATAB aim to transform urban hubs like Gaborone into cultural and Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destinations, reducing the industry’s singular reliance on the Okavango Delta. This collaborative spirit ensures that as Botswana expands its horizons, the benefits of tourism are distributed more equitably across the country, securing a resilient and inclusive future.
