Prospec: The Pitbulls of Branding Who Helped Celebrate Botswana’s 60th

When Botswana turned 60, the national conversation was split between how much the milestone deserved to be celebrated and how it should be done. Prospec chose a third path: it showed up and made something.

The Gaborone-based printing and manufacturing company did more than lend its name to the Bots60 celebration at the national museum. The team conceptualized the creative artworks, printed all the branding elements in-house, and installed the finished visuals sky high, giving the museum a fresh, celebratory look for the anniversary.

Putting skills to work

For the Pitbulls of Branding, taking part in a project of such national stature meant keeping the work in-house from the first concept to the final installation to ensure direct control over the quality of workmanship.

Deon Vaughan, the Director of Prospec, believes the next chapter of Botswana will not be shaped by spectators, it will be shaped by those who choose to participate.” This branding project was Prospec’s surefooted step to showcase its creative prowess, agility and capacity to deliver on a national scale. The company was approached by Ineeleng Kavindama of Vintage Classics, who was organizing the Musuem Bots60 Celebrations in conjunction with Kathiku Beverages, Dunlop Tires and The National Museum.

The company behind the work

Prospec (Pty) Ltd is a youth citizen-owned Group with a staff compliment of 25 employees and counting. Subsidiaries include Prospec Printing, Prospec Technologies, Prospec General Supplies, Prospec Advertising, Prospec Marketing and Banner Craft Signage Supplies.

The multi-faceted operation is housed in a 400sqm warehouse at Plot 10207, Unit 2, Bodungwe Road, Broadhurst Industrial, along the Prison Services Headquarters and adjacent to Ko Taung Shisanyama.

They boast a well retained and constantly growing client pool as well as remarkable manufacturing capacity borne from years of enterprising and shrewd capital reinvestment.

Prospec remains one of the most sought after printing companies in Botswana competing in the same stratosphere as multi-national branding companies that have a 50-year foot print, whilst they were only incorporated 11 years ago in 2015.
