Q: The government is framing agriculture as a commercial, export-oriented sector. What signals support a credible shift toward agro-industrialisation?

A: The Budget signals a deliberate shift from subsistence-based support toward positioning agriculture as a commercially driven, export-oriented growth sector.

First, agriculture is explicitly framed as a pillar of economic diversification. The Budget acknowledges that past investments delivered limited returns and calls for modernisation to improve profitability, with a stronger emphasis on agro-industrialisation, value addition and export competitiveness.
