Empowering women to find their voice

Boineelo Palai, Founder of Woman Evolve Botswana

Boineelo Palai, popularly known as Mys Bee, is the founder of the Women Evolve BW Organisation. In an interview, she explains that Women Evolve is an initiative she launched in 2019, dedicated to empowering women through high-end thematic events. Through this organisation, Palai leads programs focused on personal and professional development for women, including an annual event that brings together thought leaders and aspiring professionals for growth and networking. Professionally, Palai is a community development lecturer, and her experience in event planning and coordination has further honed her skills in project management and leadership.

“I stay motivated by the impact that Women Evolve BW has on the lives of the women we work with. Seeing attendees gain confidence, build skills, and connect with others who support their journeys fuels my confidence. I believe in the ripple effect—empowering one woman can benefit her family, her community, and ultimately society as a whole. This long-term impact, along with my vision for a more inclusive and supportive community, is what keeps me driven,” Palai says.

Palai shares that Women Evolve was inspired by her desire to see more women thrive in both personal and professional realms. She recognised a gap in support networks and mentorship opportunities tailored for women, particularly in areas where personal development and career growth intersect. “The idea of creating a community where women uplift each other and have access to resources, networking, and development opportunities felt essential,” she explains. “I also love networking sessions where participants can meet like-minded women and build lasting connections.”

Palai finds it inspiring to see attendees engage with one another and exchange ideas. “I also enjoy the panel discussions because they bring diverse perspectives and experiences into one space, often leading to powerful insights and encouragement that resonate with everyone present,” she adds.

The mission of Women Evolve BW is to empower women by providing mentorship, resources, and opportunities for personal and professional development, says Palai.

“We also aim to build a supportive community where women can grow, connect, and access the tools they need to thrive, ultimately creating a positive impact on their lives and the communities around them.”

Since its launch in 2019, Women Evolve has collaborated with various thought leaders, local professionals, and organisations that align with the organisation’s mission. These partnerships have allowed the organisation to expand its events and resources, bringing in diverse expertise and perspectives.

“Collaborating with others who share Women Evolve’s vision has been invaluable in making the organisation more comprehensive and impactful,” Palai notes. As an empowerment and mentorship organisation based in Botswana, Women Evolve is dedicated to supporting women’s personal and professional growth through high-end events, networking opportunities, and mentorship programs. The organisation strives to foster an inclusive community where women can gain confidence, skills, and connections to achieve their goals.

“One unique lesson I’ve learned is the importance of resilience and authenticity,” says Palai. “Female leaders often face unique expectations and challenges, so staying true to my vision and values while being resilient through setbacks has been essential. I’ve learned that it is crucial to lead with empathy, as this approach not only strengthens the team but also builds trust and loyalty.” Palai credits the women around her—both in her personal life and professional network—with being strong influences.

“They have shown resilience, compassion, and great leadership. My parents have also instilled values of hard work, integrity, and giving back to the community, which I carry into my work. Additionally, I have been inspired by various global female leaders who advocate for equal participation of women in leadership roles, reminding me of the importance of our mission and the impact we can have,” she says.
