As the climax of the nation’s most distinguished pageant draws near, the competition has been narrowed down to the Top 16 of the country’s most beautiful young women who are ready to ascend to the throne as Miss Botswana 2021/22. But only one will. The journey has been one that brought a fusion of fashion, beauty and elegance.
Anticipation is now the stuff of the countdown to October 30 when the reigning Miss Botswana, will mark the end of her tenure by crowning the new Queen in a ceremony at Limkokwing University’s Hall of Fame. The event will be held under the theme of Setswana attire. Voting lines are open and the one who tallies the most votes will secure a place in the Top 5.
The top 16 are currently attending a 24/7 boot camp that mirrors Miss Boot Camp. There they are being scored on different tasks and challenges that they are performing. On the night of the finale, the young women will be expected to display the utmost discipline, poise, beauty, elegance and intelligence in order to win the crown. The judging panel will look at different aspects guided by Miss World regulations and are entrusted with selecting a Queen who will represent the country proudly and become an ambassador for community development projects.
The organisers have emphasised that they want the pageant to showcase not just beauty but the intellect and dedication of young Batswana women in order to restore the distinction of the pageant as a national brand.
As an organisation, the vision of Miss Botswana is to create an ecosystem of support for the Queen to become Miss World. The organisers have thus been building an industry for relevant parties to focus on this end. The pageant has managed to pull all these into one room to ensure that the Queen has everything that she will need even for competing to become the next Miss World. Features of a five-year plan include being in the Top 3 at Miss World and to host the ultimate pageant itself in Botswana.
