Avani and Tsogang have a long-standing relationship that has seen the Hotel take on among other responsibilities, the transport costs to ensure that the Trust’s beneficiaries get to and from school each day.

“Each year towards Christmas we come to have lunch with our Tsogang family as all extended families do during this time. But throughout the year, other than the school transport, we provide sanitizers, linen and any other need that may arise that we can assist with, which at times is food because you can imagine how challenging it is to provide for a family this size,” said Avani General Manager Candice Letamo.

Tsogang Trust is an initiative established and coordinated by Mookane native Mme Gosatla Chabe since 1990 having started as a support group. The Trust currently has 63 beneficiaries, the youngest of whom is just one-year old. Like many non-profit organizations, the Trust faces many challenges and is solely dependent on the kindhearted donations from sponsors including individuals. “I have children who have grown up here and went on to finish school and get jobs. Those children too are very helpful because they still come here because this is their home,” said Chabe.

Letamo said in closing, “We also do our best to ensure that the children are exposed to opportunities and experiences. Some of the children have shown interest in the hospitality industry and we offer them internships so that they too get the exposure and necessary skills to pursue further their dreams”.
