Botswana’s Economy Caught Between Khama-Masisi Animus 

GABORONE 21 September 2019, Pula, a dance theatre production by I Love Botswana Ensemble gets standing ovation in Gaborone on 21 September 2019 after getting the same in overseas. The Pula, narrate the relationship of rain in Botswana culture. Botswana President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and Minister Tshekedi Khama grace the night and applaud for brilliant performance. The production is directed by Andrew Kola of Mophato Dance Theatre. The show comes as part of the independence celebration of Botswana. A newly released report by Afrobarometer shows that Batswana are worried that tensions between President Mokgweetsi Masisi and former president Ian Khama undermine the country’s economic stability. 

“Large majorities in Botswana say the rift between President Mokgweetsi Masisi and his predecessor, Seretse Khama Ian Khama, is causing economic and political instability in the country,” says the report.
