The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has secured a warrant of arrest to facilitate the extradition of Ian Bafo Legobo (39), of Boseja Ward, Mochudi, following his failure to appear for scheduled court proceedings. The accused is believed to have fled outside Botswana’s jurisdiction.
Legobo faces charges relating to alleged cyber fraud and money laundering involving P1,452,000.00 (One Million Four Hundred and Fifty-Two Thousand Pula), allegedly defrauded from pensioner Mr. Thapelo David Gaborone. He also faces an arson charge relating to the burning of Mmathubudukwane Police Station.
Meanwhile, his six co-accused persons being Tshiamo Ramocha, Egnicious Ame Senyarelo, Thabang Kesaobaka Modimakwane, Boitshoko Machinya (alias Moagi), Akanyang Sebongwang, and Tebogo Mpitsang appeared before Her Worship Olaotse at the Broadhurst Regional Magistrate Court for a status hearing.
During the proceedings, the six accused persons were served with witnesses’ statements and documentary exhibits. Their Case Management Conference (CMC) and plea-taking are scheduled for 10 December 2026.
Accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.
