      During a grand celebration hosted in Gaborone, Emeritus Reinsurance commemorated its 40th anniversary, presenting at tale of triumph reinsurance success and a well defined strategic vision intricately intertwined with leadership, resilience and unwavering dedication to excellence within the reinsurance sector.

      This distinguished reinsurer maintains a physical presence in Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, and Zimbabwe and trades across Sub-Saharan Africa. Patience Marwiro, the Managing Director of Emeritus Reinsurance, outlined the company’s strategic approach during her address, highlighting an ‘unmatched’ knowledge of African markets and the significance of the recent amalgamation.

      “Our commitment to innovation, a skilled workforce, and client-centric solutions will be our guiding lights,” she said, adding that Emeritus boasts a physical regional presence backed by the strong technical know-how of its craft and a solid balance sheet. “Our knowledge of our markets and expertise ensure complex situations are met with competence and client-centric solutions.”

      Marwiro added, “At Emeritus Reinsurance, our amalgamation not only signifies growth but a commitment to providing unparalleled services to our clients. We believe that strategic innovation is not just about adapting to change, but about leading the change, and that’s exactly what we intend to do. Because we tap into a large pool of resources and ideas from across the region, grounded on over two generations of operations we have been part of protecting some of Africa’s priced assets. Timely claims settlements and establishing enduring partnerships as key aspects of their strategic vision.”

      The Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC), Keletsositse Olebile, endorsed the brand’s purpose and cause. He emphasised the strategic importance of companies such as Emeritus Reinsurance in Botswana’s economic landscape. Olebile commended Emeritus Reinsurance for its strategic vision and commitment to innovation, stating, “Emeritus Reinsurance’s journey is emblematic of what Botswana stands for as an investment destination – a nation that encourages and supports forward-thinking businesses, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.”

      Emeritus Reinsurance’s recent amalgamation was a central theme of the event. The integration of Emeritus International Reinsurance Company Limited with Emeritus Reinsurance Company (Proprietary) Limited has positioned the company as a leader in the reinsurance sector. This strategic move not only strengthens their position but also allows for the underwriting of more business, exploring new product offerings, and enhancing their market presence.

      The amalgamation, effective from  January 1, 2024, ensures continuity in operations, eliminates disruptions, and enhances the company’s offerings. Marwiro highlighted,

      “The amalgamation will not lead to job losses but will create new jobs as the company primes itself to meet new challenges.”

      Emeritus Reinsurance’s achievements over the years were also acknowledged, including their significant contributions to the insurance industry in Botswana. Their consistent revenue growth, annual profit increases, and advocacy efforts have set them apart as a strategic thought leader in the region.
