As Botswana’s battle against COVID-19 continues, Pula Medical Aid Fund launching their COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Site at The Grand Palm Hotel Casino & Convention Resort to aid the Government of the Republic of Botswana accelerate the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccination programme. At a Press Conference and Media Tour of the well-equipped and ready facility, Pula Medical Aid Fund hosted key stakeholders and the media, for a press briefing and walk-through of the newly assembled facility.
Speaking at the event, the Fund’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Khumoetsile Mapitse alluded to how determined they were to assist Government in providing access of the vaccine to Batswana. He asserted, as PULA Medical Aid Fund, they have long positioned strategic focus to give access to quality healthcare. In an era of COVID-19, where the world over has been swept by the pandemic, the CEO said they saw it fit to stretch forth in delivering their service promise, not only to members, but to the broader public by delivering their utmost need at this dire time.
Through the PULA Mass Vaccination Site, the public will enjoy a seamless process where they pre-book their vaccination slot via WhatsApp and are allocated a time when they will be allowed to come and vaccinate at the site without having to queue or even pay for this service. “As an organisation committed to excellent service delivery and ensuring the nation’s health and overall well-being, we believe that this is a service that will benefit many,” Dr. Mapitse said.
Also in attendance at the event, the Ministry of Health & Wellness was represented by the Greater Gaborone District Health Management Team (DHMT), who commended the Fund for taking strides to help Government meet their Vaccination obligations. Speaking at the launch event, Greater Gaborone DHMT Coordinator Kgomotso Moruisi narrated, “It goes without saying that the Private sector has really heeded the call by Government when they appealed to the public at large to join forces together and find a way forward for Botswana and her people. Today I stand before you in this place to honour Pula Medical Aid Fund’s commitment and partnership with the Government to help in the roll out of the final stages of the vaccination drive”.
