- Three auctions of different scales are planned for November
Tati Nickel Mine, which is located just outside Francistown, is on the market and is ready to find its next custodian.
This is according to WH Auctioneers which is scheduled to conduct an auction this month. Altogether three auctions are planned.
The mine will first be offered on auction in its entirety, allowing prospective buyers the opportunity to bid on the complete Tati Mine assets as one lot. Should there not be an acceptable bid, there will be an auction of individual lots which comprise some 600 assets. The final auction will be of mine plants and sections as well as DMS and tailings dumps.
Some of the key infrastructure components are processing plants and sections, mine equipment, storage and warehousing, workshops and maintenance facilities, electrical infrastructure, mineral processing, office facilities, tailings & DMS facilities. It is planned that the sale of the mine will be offered over three auctions as follows: the first auction, which is scheduled for 8 November 2023, will be conducted on the online webcast.
Complete assets
This will include the auctioning of complete assets of Tati Nickel Mine as one lot, complete assets of BMR as one lot and a Komatsu PC1250 8R Excavator. The second auction, scheduled for 15 and 16 November, will include all movable assets of Tati Nickel Mine as individual lots made up of approximately 600 lots.
The third auction includes various mine plants and sections made up of crushing, conveyors, Activox Pilot Plant, DMS and tailings dumps. WH Auctioneers has indicated that upon a successful bid for the complete Tati Mine as one lot in Auction 1, other auctions will be cancelled.
Future expansion
They say the diverse infrastructure at Tati Nickel provides a solid foundation for mining operations and the potential for future expansion, adding that the availability of this infrastructure simplifies the setup and operation of mining activities and offers significant advantages to potential investors and operators. The auctioneers have indicated that Tati Nickel has dedicated facilities for crushing and screening ore and that these plants are essential for preparing the mined material for further processing.
In terms of mine equipment, the mine fleet consists of equipment and vehicles necessary for day-to-day operations. They include a variety of cranes, loaders, trucks and vehicles. Regarding storage and warehousing, WH Auctioneers says Tati Nickel has storage facilities for various mining-related items and equipment, adding that this can include spare parts, tools, and other essential materials.
With regard to the workshops and maintenance facilities, the auctioneers have explained that there are engineering workshops and equipment for maintenance, repairs, and fabrication. This includes welders, lathes, and workbenches.
Mineral processing
Tati Nickel features electrical infrastructure, including transformers and cabling, to support mining operations, power distribution and unused electrical motors, transformers and related items form part of the sale.
The mine has facilities for mineral processing, such as milling and floatation plants, which are crucial for extracting valuable minerals and administrative buildings and a selection of Parkhome offices are available for managing mining operations and related activities.
