Botswana’s sporting community has been rocked by a series of doping cases that has cast a shadow over the country’s sporting achievements and raised concerns about the integrity of the country’s athletes. 

The country had its first doping case in 2008. Since then, athletes across different sporting codes – track athletics, boxing and rugby among them – have been caught on the wrong side of the anti-doping regime, testing positive in both in and out-of-season tests. But athletics outpaces other codes in what seems to be a doping race.
