Limited Game Time Compels Seakanyeng to Quit UAE-Based Outfit

Limited game time is the main reason Zebras winger Kabelo Seakanyeng decided to cut his stay at United Arab Emirates-based Dibba Al-Fujairah short, The Business Weekly Sports has established. “Skhebo,” as the hard working, swift bantam footballer is known here at home, joined OCK late 2020 and to help them gain promotion from Morocco’s Botola 2 (First Division) to the Maghreb country’s elite league, Botola Pro. He continued his form from Morocco’s Botola 2 in Morocco’s elite league (Botola Pro), scoring eight goals and providing nine assists during the 2021-22 league season. The 29-year old breezy winger’s impressive performances in Morocco were rewarded in August 2022 after being loaned to United Arab Emirates (UAE) outfit, Dibba Al-Fujairah Club. The loan was for one year with an option to sign a permanent deal at the end of the season. However, his stay in the UAE super league was short-lived after “Skhebo” made only two appearances (in the first half of the 2022/23 season), a situation that has since compelled him to return to Morocco to rejoin OCK, as announced by OCK this week. “Unfortunately, the coach that signed me in UAE was sacked after three games, two of which I featured in,” he said in a telephone interview from his base in Morocco. “And then a new coach was hired. He came with new tactics and soon had his preferred players, resulted in me not getting game time. That forced me to cut my stay at the UAE short to ultimately rejoin OCK. “What was the use of my staying when I was not playing. Being benched was affecting me and my career. I was performing well in Morocco and was suddenly an unused player in the UAE. It was affecting me emotionally and I had to leave “Skhebo” told The Business Weekly Sports that he is a bit disappointed about his failed loan but is now immensely delighted to have rejoined OCK. “I thought I was making progress by moving to the UAE,” he said. “Progress is what all players want. Progress and more progress. “Anyway, I understand that it is part of football - sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. My main focus now is to help OCK avoid relegation. The team is currently at 15 th position after 16 encounters. I hope to regain my form to where I was and ultimately get another good chance to move elsewhere.” Before joining OCK in late 2020, “Skhebo” enjoyed a short stint of European football on the Mediterranean island state of Malta where he played for First Division side Lija Athletic FC between September 2019 and March 2020. He has also had a short spell in the South African PSL where he played for Chippa United. In his native Botswana, “Skhebo” has played for BDF XI and Gaborone United. [/ihc-hide-content]
