- Injects P600k
A capital injection of P600,000 from Vunani Fund Managers as sponsorship for the Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards represents a significant contribution to the local sports scene, stated Kesego Okie, Chief Executive Officer of Inside BW Women Sports, the organizing body of the awards.
“This sponsorship has the potential to foster the growth of women’s sports.”
In an interview with The Business Weekly Sports, Okie emphasised the crucial role of sponsorships in advancing sporting endeavors, especially in a landscape where securing financial backing is a significant challenge for many sports. She praised Vunani’s sponsorship as a patriotic gesture, noting that it not only grants naming rights to the awards but also highlights the company’s steadfast commitment to promoting sustainable development in the sports arena.
“The three-year headline sponsorship towards the Awards has not only given the company naming rights (the awards are now called Vunani Annual Botswana Women Sports Awards) but it reaffirms the company’s full commitment to sustainable development for prolonged impact,” remarked Okie.
She further emphasised the transformative power of such sponsorships in inspiring female athletes and empowering young girls to pursue excellence across diverse sporting disciplines. Okie’s sentiments resonate with a collective aspiration for the awards to serve as a beacon of hope and inclusivity within the sporting fraternity.
During the sponsorship launch, Obakeng Mmusinyane, Vunani’s Business Development Manager for Institutional Clients, reiterated the company’s commitment to fostering innovation and delivering tangible results for its clientele. Mmusinyane underscored the alignment between the awards and Vunani’s strategic vision, emphasizing their shared ethos of promoting positivity and inspiring greatness within the sporting community.
“We are not entirely new to sports, as we have passionately partnered with, and supported local sports clubs whose only vision is to ensure sustainable development of athletes in Botswana,” Mmusinyane noted, citing collaborative initiatives with swimming and cycling organizations.
Lethabo Modukanele, the inaugural recipient of the Sports Woman of the Year award, praised the creation of female-centric sports accolades and commended the private sector for its crucial role in promoting inclusivity within the sporting landscape. She expressed optimism about the future of women’s sports, buoyed by the unwavering support of sponsors like Vunani Fund Managers.
“It gives me hope that there is a better future for sports, especially for women and I eagerly anticipate the evolution of the awards in the next five, 10, 30 years and beyond, God willing,” remarked Modukanele during the sponsorship launch.
Securing Vunani Fund Managers’ generous sponsorship for the next three years ensures that the awards will have a lasting impact on Botswana’s sporting scene. This year’s edition will highlight outstanding performances from January 1st to December 31st, 2023, across diverse sporting disciplines, reaffirming the ongoing dedication to acknowledging and fostering excellence in women’s sports.
