Investigations carried out by The Business Weekly Sports show that more than 50 percent of national sporting associations (NSAs) do not have sponsors to run their leagues and tournaments. These include Botswana Boxing Association where the last time there was a sponsor for a tournament was more than eight ago, and Botswana Volleyball Federation whose national league has not taken place for more than 37 months, the last league game having been played in the last quarter of 2018 under a Mascom Wireless sponsorship that was not renewed.ย
Botswana Football League (BFL) went through the 2021/22 season without title sponsors and it is yet to be seen if they will have one or some for the next season. Botswana Karate Association does not have sponsors to run tournaments either.ย
