The Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) announced the appointment of Kopano Bolokwe as Chairperson of the Board, effective 19th January 2026, for a three-year term.

Bolokwe brings to the role a distinguished track record of executive leadership, governance experience, and strategic oversight across complex, regulated environments. He is a seasoned capital markets executive with over 15 years of experience spanning Botswana, South Africa, and the United States of America, and has held senior leadership positions, including serving as Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE). He is currently the Head of Product Development at the BSE.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the aviation sector, as Botswana continues to strengthen aviation safety, regulatory excellence, connectivity, and the sector’s contribution to national economic development and transformation. Bolokwe’s experience in institutional governance, regulatory reform, commercialization strategies, and stakeholder engagement is expected to add significant value to the Authority’s strategic direction and oversight mandate.

Bolokwe has previously served on several boards, including as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Okavango Diamond Company and Southview Limited, a subsidiary of BOMAID, and currently serves as Secretary General of the Botswana Bond Market Association. He is known for his strong commitment to good governance, commercialization, product and services innovation, sustainability, and institutional performance.

The Board, Management and Staff of the CAAB congratulated Bolokwe on his appointment and look forward to his leadership in advancing the Authority’s mandate of ensuring a safe, secure, efficient, and internationally compliant and competitive civil aviation system in Botswana.
