Business Botswana has welcomed the establishment of the Botswana Mercantile Exchange (BMX), calling it a potential game-changer that could redefine the country’s role in regional and global commodity trade.
Expected to be operational by March 2026 under the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE), the BMX is designed to position Botswana as a central regional hub for commodities in Southern Africa, allowing the continent to capture more value from its natural resources. President Duma Boko announced the initiative during the recent State of the Nation Address.
