Vice President Ndaba Gaolathe said some business funding models disadvantage youth because they are overly uniform and loan-dependent, failing to account for sector-specific realities.
Gaolathe, who is also minister of finance, was responding to concerns raised by a youth leader about challenges facing youth-owned enterprises. He told a Youth Pitso that government is working toward a differentiated funding ecosystem that recognizes that sectors such as the creative industries, technology and software development are ill-suited to rigid monthly loan repayments, unlike asset-backed sectors such as property.
