Zebra Square Gallery – dealers and traders in classic, future classic & supercars as well as Chopard timepieces, recently staged a spectacular father’s day super race car-themed activation display, held in association with Hyde Park Corner Shopping Centre.
Limited-edition classic race cars with Chopard Limited edition watches were on display at the lower-level court, along with a life-size Ferrari Formula 1 simulator from Pablo Clark Racing with NGK. Visitors had the opportunity to get a test drive to show off their track skills and win jaw-dropping prizes to the value of R30 000 for the fastest lap time.
Technological marvel was in full splendour as shoppers lined up awaiting their turn on the simulator to beat the competition in a bid to get their hands on the stunning prizes from Whiskey Brothers, Tshepo Jeans, L’Occitane, and Sorbet Man that were up for grabs, including an exhilarating racing experience, courtesy of Pablo Clark with NGK, and Limited Edition Chopard Mille Miglia sunglasses. The stakes were truly high and competition was fierce between avid race car enthusiasts and occasional drivers alike. One lucky contestant set himself a winning chance by revisiting the simulator several times in hopes of beating his repeat record and victorious he was when he came top out of all contestants who shot their shot on the simulated track – Monza in Italy, setting a time of 1.21.700 ahead of his competitors.
Originally from China, Charlie Shang, a Johannesburg-based father, and race car fanatic developed an appreciation for cars as an art form and enjoys driving as it represents the integration of form and function into a personality that the driver interacts with. “To me being able to drive a car skillfully is to be able to communicate with the machinery as intended by the engineers, and I find that to be an experience that is worth getting up for every morning,” says Chang during the prize handover announcement held at Zebra Square Gallery last week at the winner’s announcement ceremony. Included in the grand prize was a once-in-a-lifetime exclusive opportunity to experience a real version of the simulator on the circuit courtesy of Pablo Clark Racing. “Winning the prize is such a special experience for me. Over and above all of the awesome prizes provided by the sponsors, we get to share a seat with the Schechter name.
This is a chance to get a little closer to the F1 heritage and what better car to do it in than a 360 Challenge from the era of Schumacher,” concluded Shang. The competition has come to a close but car lovers are still able to get their dose of turbo adrenaline by visiting the Pablo Clark website to view their enticing catalogue, and if you have extra money to splurge on a piece of engineering art you can visit the Zebra Square Gallery showroom located in the Hyde Park Corner shopping centre for your next big purchase.
