Cavista Technologies Botswana will host its first two-day hackathon on 21 and 22 February 2026 at the Botswana Accountancy College in Gaborone, positioning the event as more than a coding competition.
While presented as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme, the hackathon also functions as a structured pipeline for identifying investable technology solutions and high potential engineering talent.
The event will run simultaneously across Cavista’s international offices in Nigeria, India and the Philippines, linking Botswana’s participants to a coordinated global innovation cycle. Around 300 delegates are expected locally, including undergraduate students pursuing technology related programmes.
Participants will work in teams to develop engineered solutions to defined real world challenges. Three main winning teams will receive significant prizes, but Cavista says select ideas could progress beyond the competition stage and potentially be refined for market entry.
General Manager Katlego Arnone said the hackathon presents an opportunity to connect promising ideas with capital while also identifying top talent.
“It is a very good opportunity, not only for Cavista to find the best and the brightest talent to come and join our team, but also to have those with capital invest in the young engineers’ ideas,” she said.
The initiative has attracted support from industry players including the BTCL Group, which has come on board as a sponsor.
