The Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) has announced a partnership with Ethiopian Airlines for the transportation of beef products across its route network and beyond.
BMC has formalised this strategic agreement after conducting successful air freight trials in December 2023 to destinations like Senegal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This collaboration marks a significant milestone for BMC, promising to revolutionise its international business operations.
This accomplishment serves as a pivotal step towards realizing BMC’s objectives outlined in its Meriting 2022-2025 Strategy.
By leveraging Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive air routes and efficient cargo transportation services, BMC is poised to strengthen its supply chain capabilities and optimise its export processes.
This partnership is expected to have a profound positive impact on BMC’s business internationally. With Ethiopian Airlines as the air freight partner, BMC said it can now ensure timely and reliable delivery of its premium meat products to key markets across the globe – and similarly receive payment of supplies, which is intended to ensure quicker settlement of creditors (i.e. cattle producers).
This strategic alliance will not only enhance BMC’s competitiveness but also solidify its reputation as an optimal distributor of high-quality meat products in the international market.
“This collaboration represents a significant step forward for BMC, allowing us to enhance our export capabilities, meet the growing demand for our products with efficiency and reliability, but also enhance our cash realisation cycles,” said David Tsheboeng, CEO of Botswana Meat Commission.
The milestone adds diversity and impetus to already existing distribution platforms for “Botswana Beef” such as sea and road freight. BMC says it looks forward to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership with Ethiopian Airlines, as they work together to elevate BMC’s presence in the global market and deliver exceptional meat products to customers worldwide.
