In its continued effort to bring convenience to its clientele and minimise in-person contact, Botswana Post recently partnered with retail giant Choppies Enterprises to have kiosks within selected stores countrywide.

The Choppies stores kioks are part of Botswana Post’s multi-channel strategy to provide various avenues for its customers to access products and services.

The company also has digital platforms, including PosoMoney, Poso Online and PosoApp for customers to access its various services without having to physically visit a post office.

The kioks have brought much-needed accessibility and ease of doing business through providing a  one-stop shop service with multiple services on offer, including bill payment, DStv subscription, purchase of electricity, purchase of airtime across all networks, payment for vehicle licence renewal, bulk wage payments of Ipelegeng, the destitute programme, and old age pensions, as well as SMME beneficiary payments.

To ensure that its customers, particularly pensioners, enjoy the convenience of accessing their funds through the kiosks, Botswana Post has pay point locations not only at its post office branches but also through the Choppies kiosks.

“It is important to note that going forward, only 50 beneficiaries will be assisted at Choppies per day to ensure the safety of the beneficiaries,” Botswana Post said in a statement.

A pension beneficiary can change pay points by applying for relocation. However, pensioners who get paid on scheduled dates may go to a post office where there are no stipulated pay dates.

“For their convenience and safety, in situations where they can physically come to the pay point, we encourage pensioners to stay at their allocated locations,” the statement said. “Pensioners are allowed to send someone to collect payment on their behalf but it should be someone already appointed and registered as a proxy.”

In the event that old age pensioners miss their pay date, they have an option of keeping their funds for a period of six months. Should the six-month window expire, pensioner can apply for the funds at the nearest pay point.
